In the last year, after police dogs, horses, wolves and tigers, Charlotte Dumas has again turned to dogs as her photographic subjects. In September, a selection of her work will be shown at the Foam Museum of Photography in Amsterdam, including two recent series of street dogs in Palermo and dogs in animal shelters in New York.

Suddenly at the centre of a hype, Markus Schinwald (b. 1973) is not happy with all the attention his work is getting, which goes along with the interest in the essence of man, sex and passion that seems to be cropping up everywhere. This type of art, which nowadays he is sometimes associated with, he calls 'psycho-kitsch', while his own work is of a more conceptual nature. Time to set things right.

Her first major museum exhibition will be opening in November, she will be showing several works, both new and old, at the Biennial in São Paulo, and this year will see the publication of an extensive monograph.
